Notice to Casselton Residents:

Trimming Required by August 18, 2025

To help keep our streets and sidewalks safe and accessible for all, residents are required to trim any trees or branches that extend over public right-of-ways. Please ensure there is a minimum of 12 feet of clearance above streets, 8 feet above sidewalks, and all street signs are visible by August 18, 2025.

Thank you for helping keep Casselton safe for our school kids!
School begins on August 20, 2025.


ASH OR ELM CITY COST SHARE

Ash Trees and Elm Trees that have been diagnosed with Dutch Elm Disease are eligible for a cost share with the City if they are on the Boulevard. The City will reimburse 50% of the cost, up to $500. Requirements are listed on the Tree Removal Cost Share Application Form below. Once a tree is removed from the boulevard, a new tree must be planted within 2 years using the Tree Planting Permit.

Planting Boulevard Trees

Trees must be planted at least 12 feet from a driveway or alleyway, at least 40 feet from an intersection, and must be at least 25 feet apart.

Tree Pruning

Residents are responsible for pruning their boulevard trees. All established trees shall be pruned to sufficient height to allow free passage of pedestrians and vehicular traffic.  A clear height of eight feet over sidewalks and twelve feet over all streets.
