Generations Connecting Mission Statement:
Generations Connecting strives to create a safe, healthy, and hospitable environment to encourage and empower all people to accomplish their full potential through life long cooperation of all generations.

What is Generations Connecting?
Generations Connecting was formed in August 2000 as a community effort to
support all generations, with an emphasis placed on developing assets in
our community's youth. Mayor Ed McConnell proclaimed 2001, a year of
asset building in the Casselton community. The Mayor and the Casselton
City Council have continued to pledged their ongoing support for asset
building.
The task force meets monthly and consists of youth representatives
and community representatives, Alexia Kieffer, Rebecca Berg-Buss,
Pastor Arlyn Coalter, Supt. Larry Gegelman, Doris Idso, Sheila Krueger,
Brenda Levos, Duane Litton, Pete Silbernagel, Deputy Steve Sprecher,
Ranelle Larsen, Tony Wieland, Sonja McLean, Michael Faught and
Laurie Blank.
Assets and Asset Building
An asset is something of value to a person, something that makes that person's life better. The more assets we have, at any age, the better we are at coping, making healthy choices, and interacting with others. Assets can be such things as skills or feelings of worth. All people can be asset builders for others. It takes little time and effort to start adding asset-building behaviors into each of our lives on a regular basis. The whole community, especially or youth, benefit as we share the attitude with each other. It's habit forming and catchy! Examples of asset building behavior are: Value everyone else's time ( Youth's Too! ) as much as your own, encourage, be creative, empower, educate, be friendly, show respect, remember birthdays, cheer, participate, communicate, be thoughtful, show up, be on time, follow through, show appreciation, visit, smile, care, be kind, laugh, listen, teach, share, volunteer, be courteous, relax, be generous, keep commitments, be generous with Thank You's, share someone's excitement, be a good role model and encourage others to do the same.
