Central Cass Public School District is a fully state accredited and North Central Association (NCA) accredited Kindergarten-Grade 12 school system. The district, covering just over 400 square miles, with an enrollment of nearly 875 students, ranks in the top 10% in size of all North Dakota school districts. The district includes territory from many former rural and reorganized districts and includes the communities of Casselton, Chaffee, Embden, Lynchburg, Amenia, Wheatland, Prosper, Absaraka; and the rural areas surrounding Harwood, Mapleton, Leonard and Durbin.
The district's schools provide strong curricular and extracurricular programs, with 81% of all junior and senior high school students involved in extracurricular activities. The high school dropout rate is zero in most years. Students score higher than state and national averages in standardized tests such as the CTBS and the ACT. Over 90% of all graduates each year go on to post secondary education, including over 65% to a four-year college or university.

In August, 1996, the district opened its new and remodeled $7.9 million high school and elementary school in Casselton. This facility The new facility is touted as the most modern and technologically advanced school in North Dakota. With 400 computers, including a computer on every teacher's desk, there is a ratio of one computer for each three students.

In 2003 the first "house" of a proposed Middle School was completed. This house added additional 8 classrooms. Future growth would require additional "houses" to be added to complete the Middle School project.

While on the cutting edge of education, the Central Cass Schools are large enough to affordable offer curricular opportunity and, yet, small enough to provide a small school experience.
